The Scotiabank Arena, which was formerly known as Air Canada Centre, is a multi-purpose arena located at 40 Bay Street, Toronto, Ontario. The arena was opened to the public on February 19, 1999. It has a seating capacity of around 18,800 (Lacrosse), 19,800 (Concerts), 5,200 (Theatre), 18,800 (Hockey), and 19,800 (Basketball). The arena is owned and operated by Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment. Brisbin Brooke Beynon Architects designed the Scotiabank Arena with a consultation of HOK Sport (now Populous).
The arena hosts hundreds of sporting and other events every year. The venue has been home to the Toronto Rock of the National Lacrosse League and Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League. Occasional games of the minor league are played in this arena by Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League and the Raptors 905 of the NBA G League.
For the first time in 2015, Air Canada used this arena for the “2015 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships”. Also, it hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the Invictus Games in 2017. The Scotiabank Arena has the honor of hosting five Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC).
