The Legacy Arena is located at 2100 Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd N., Birmingham, AL. The center was formerly known as BJCC Coliseum and BJCC Arena. It has a seating capacity of 19,000 for concerts, 17,654 for sporting events, and 8,000 for theatre seating. The venue is under the ownership of the Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center Authority while it is operated by Comcast Spectra. The Legacy Arena was opened to the general public on September 28, 1976. It underwent renovation in the year 2020-21 at the cost of $123 million.
With the conversion of the arena into a theatre seating, it is served under the name of Magic City Theatre. It is a 10 stories tall venue with several luxury suites and press box. The arena also features BJCC Arena Club which can accommodate 500 guests. The venue also includes 6 dressing rooms, 2 locker rooms, press room, and a VIP reception at the backstage.
The arena served former home to Alabama Steeldogs arena football, UAB men's basketball team, Birmingham Bulls, etc. Some notable events hosted by the venue are five Sun Belt Conference men's basketball tournaments, USA's 1996 and 2016 Women's Basketball Championship, NCAA college basketball tournament, 2017 Davis Cup, Armageddon WWE, Disney on Ice, Church of God in Christ, Built Ford Tough Series, Monster Jam, and much more. Some top performers that performed at the stage of this arena are Bob Dylan, Michael Jackson, Taylor Swift, Grateful Dead, Celine Dion, etc.
