The Maverik Center is located at 3200 South Decker Lake Drive, West Valley City, Utah, United States. It was initially known as the E Center. The venue has a seating capacity of 12,000 people at a time. It is a multi-purpose arena that is under the ownership of the City of West Valley City while operated by Centennial Management Group, Inc.
The seating capacity of the venue is distributed as follows: Ice hockey: 10,100, Basketball: 12,500, Concerts: up to 12,000, and Wrestling: 12,600. The venue was opened to the public on September 22, 1997, with a construction cost of US$54.1 million. The arena served as the main venue for the ice hockey events during the 2002 Winter Olympics. It also served as the main venue for ice sled hockey during the 2002 Winter Paralympics. Currently, the arena is home to the Utah Grizzlies and hosts many concerts and live touring productions.
The Maverik Center was designed by Populous (company); Valentiner, Crane, Brunjes, and Onyon. The arena hosted the very first event on September 22, 1997, which was WCW's Monday Nitro Live. Some previous events hosted by the venue are the National Indoor Football League, home games of the Salt Lake Screaming Eagles, ice hockey (2002), etc. It also hosted some popular concerts by famous performers.
