Blackberry Smoke is a country band from the US. The group was formed in Atlanta in 2000. In addition to Charlie Starr (lead vocals, guitar), the band has Richard Turner (bass, backing vocals), Brit Turner (drums), Paul Jackson (guitar, backing vocals), and Brandon Still (keyboards). They started traveling with guitarist Benji Shanks and drummer Preston Holcomb in 2018. They've released seven full-length, two live, and five EPs. They made history by being the first self-released act ever to top the Billboard Country Albums list. Their first album, Bad Luck Ain't No Crime, came out in 2003. Little Piece of Dixie, their second album, was published in 2009. It has received praise from well-known sites such as Paste. In 2019, the band released a live CD and video titled Homecoming: Live in Atlanta via Earache Records. The CD documented their annual Brothers and Sisters Holiday Homecoming event, which took place in November 2018 at the Tabernacle in Atlanta. Their seventh album, You Hear Georgia, came out on May 28, 2021. The Americana/Folk chart at Billboard placed it at No. 1. Over 33,000 copies were sold in the first week, including 12,239 albums alone. This was sufficient to make it the best-selling country album of all time and the third-best-selling album of all time. The album was streamed approximately 1 million times during its first week of release. Dave Cobb produced the album, containing guest performances by Jamey Johnson and Warren Haynes.
