About New Jersey Devils

The New Jersey Devils are an NHL team from the Metropolitan Division that plays in the Eastern Conference. The Devils play their home games at Prudential Center in Newark. In 1974, a team known as the Kansas City Scouts was formed in Kansas City, Missouri. After relocating to Denver in 1976, the Scouts changed their name to the Colorado Rockies. They again changed their name in 1982 after relocating to East Rutherford, New Jersey, and the Jersey Devil became part of their mythology. The Devils relocated to Newark's Prudential Center before the 2007–08 season. Since David Blitzer and Josh Harris founded the squad in 2013, Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE) has owned and run it. Dougie Hamilton, a defender for the Hurricanes, was a free agent in the offseason of 2020–2021. The Devils signed him in the same position. The next year, 2022–23, the squad bounced back and had its greatest regular season. The Devils' record-breaking 13-game winning run in October and November guided them to a third-place finish in the league and new highs in wins and points. The squad had the highest point improvement in a single season by any NHL team in an 82-game season, going from 63 the year before to 112. The Devils, sitting pretty with a 30-27-4 record and no chance of making the playoffs, replaced head coach Lindy Ruff with Travis Green on March 4, 2024. The Devils' 5-2 loss to the Maple Leafs on April 9 ended their playoff hopes.  Forward Ryan Schmelzer has inked a two-way, two-year deal with the club. The contract is described below: $1,775,000 in the National Hockey League (NHL) and $275,000 in the American Hockey League (AHL) in 2024–25 and $1,775,000 in the NHL and $275,000 in the AHL in 2025–26.  They re-signed forward Kurtis MacDermid to a $3,450,000, three-year deal with an average yearly value of $1.15 million. Young players like Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier lead the way as the New Jersey Devils have built on their momentum from the past season throughout the 2024 preseason. While experimenting with their power play units to maximize efficiency, the squad has concentrated on keeping its aggressive, quick-paced style.  Showing that the Devils are poised to challenge in the Eastern Conference, Goaltender Vitek Vanecek has given consistency between the pipes. The Devils are set to be a powerful force in the next NHL season with a team full of rising skill and strong depth.
