About St. Louis Blues

The St. Louis Blues are an ice hockey team in St. Louis, Missouri. It plays in the NHL's Western Conference, the Central Division. The Enterprise Center in downtown St. Louis held the team's home games. One of the six new clubs joined the NHL in 1967. The Blues have reached the Stanley Cup Finals four times, and their 2019 victory makes them the last surviving club from the 1967 expansion. St. Louis Blues was first established in 1967 and was named after a song by W. C. Handy called "St. Louis Blues." The 1999–2000 club had the greatest regular season record in franchise history and won the Presidents' Trophy. Gold, navy blue, royal blue, and white make up the Blues' color scheme. Louie the Bear, the team mascot for the St. Louis Blues, debuted in October 2007. The squad has earned many trophies and awards over the years. The Vezina Trophy, Lester Patrick Trophy, Hart Memorial Trophy, Lady Byng Memorial Trophy, James Norris Memorial Trophy, William M. Jennings Trophy, and the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy are just a few examples. After being swept in three straight series (1968–1970), the Blues finally won a game in the Stanley Cup Finals on May 29 with a 3-2 overtime victory over the Boston Bruins. The Blues won their first Stanley Cup on June 12, 2019, with a 4-1 victory in Game 7 over the Bruins. The Conn Smythe Trophy for postseason MVP was awarded to Ryan O'Reilly. In April 2024, the Blues lost to the Carolina Hurricanes (5-2) and the Minnesota Wild (7-2), likewise eliminating them from postseason contention for the second consecutive season.  In February, the Columbus Blue Jackets announced the trade of goalkeeper Malcolm Subban to the St. Louis Blues. The deal was for future considerations. Matthew Kessel, a defenseman, has extended his contract with the club for two more years for $1.6 million. Reestablishing their defensive identity—which suffered last season—has dominated the St. Louis Blues' 2024 preseason. Jordan Binnington has looked good in goal; new additions and returning players like Colton Parayko have been assigned responsibility for guiding the blue line.  The Blues have also been experimenting with their forward lines in search of the ideal combinations to optimize their offensive output. Young athletes like Jake Neighbours have been given chances to show themselves, augmenting the roster's diversity. This season, the Blues want to recover and return to playoff form.
