Boyz II Men is a vocal harmony group from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This sensational band from Philadelphia is best known for its Cappella harmonies and emotional ballads. They currently consist of three singers: Nathan Morris, Wanya Morris, and Shawn Stockman. Boyz II Men signed labels with Motown records and gained international success in the 1990s. This success began with releasing the top 5 singles, including “it’s so hard to say goodbye” and “Motownphily.”
In 1991, Boyz II Men came out with another top single, “End of The Road,” which reached the top of the charts internationally. The same single set a record for its longevity and stayed at number one on Billboard hot 100 for 13 consecutive weeks. Boyz II Men proceeded to break this record with the releases of “I’ll Make Love to You” (1994) and “One Sweet Day” (1995) with Mariah Carey, which peaked at fourteen and sixteen weeks.
Boyz II Men became the third artists, after The Beatles and Presley, to replace themselves at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. Boyz II Men is easily recognized as Billboard magazine’s biggest boy band from 1987 to 2012. Boyz II Men later created an independent label called MSM Music Group and released the ‘Throwback,’ Vol. 1 LP, in 2004.
On January 13, 2014, the trio appeared in an episode of How I Met Your Mother, where they performed an acapella version of the song “You Just Got Slapped.” The group’s eleventh album, ‘Collide,’ was released on October 21, 2014. Furthermore, In August 2017, the magnificent trio released their latest album titled ‘Under the Streetlight in the Fall,’ which proved to be a great hit in the market. On September 30, 2019, Boyz II Men announced their Asia Tour; they visited cities such as Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Singapore, and Manila.
The group was featured on the first episode of the 2021 Netflix series This Is Pop, called “The Boyz II Men Effect,” detailing their impact on boy bands in the 1990s.
