Joe Hisaishi Information
Mamoru Fujisawa (December 6, 1950) is professionally known as Joe Hisaishi. He is a Japanese composer and musical director who is well-known for over 100 film scores and solo albums dating back to 1981. Hisaishi is also famous for his exclusive piano scores. He is from Nakano, Nagano, and began learning the violin in the Violin School Suzuki Shinichi when he was only four. At the same time, Hisaishi found his passion for music. He began watching 300 movies a year with his father at the same age, which influenced his career.
Hisaishi attended the Kunitachi College of Music in 1969 to major in music composition. He also collaborated with minimalist artists as a typesetter and furthered his experience in the world of music. In 1974, he composed music for the anime series called Gyatoruzu, which brought him major success. He also composed for Futari Daka (A Full Throttle) and Sasuga no Sarutobi (Academy of Ninja).
MKWAJU was the first album by Hisaishi that was released in 1981. It was followed by Information being released a year later. Hajime Ningen Gyatoruz (1974) and Robokko Beeton (1976) were his first major anime scores. Some of his other notable albums are Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984), Laputa: Castle in the Sky (1986), Kiki's Delivery Service (1989), Howl's Moving Castle (2004), The Tale of the Princess Kaguya (2013), Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch (2013), and Children of the Sea (2019).
