LL Cool J Information
James Todd Smith (January 14, 1968) is an American actor, rapper, record producer, and songwriter. He is professionally known by his stage name, LL Cool J. He was born in Bay Shore, Islip, New York. At age 10, Smith was inspired by the rap duo The Treacherous Three to start rapping.
In 1984, when Smith was sixteen years old, he recorded demos at his grandparents' house. Smith used the mixer he inherited from his grandfather to create and mix recordings that he distributed to record labels in New York City, including Def Jam.
LL Cool J was nominated for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in October 2018. The news that LL had re-signed with Def Jam for future album releases came in September 2019. Q-Tip will be producing his new album. He received the Award for Musical Excellence from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021, which led to his induction that year.
LL Cool J failed a covid test and postponed his appearance on Ryan Seacrest's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Dick Clark from 2022 to 2022. The 2022 iHeartRadio Music Awards were held on March 22, and LL was the host.
