Of Monsters and Men is an Icelandic India pop/folk band. Members of the group include guitarist and singer Ragnar “Raggi” þórhallsson, lead singer and guitarist Nanna Bryndis Hilmarsdottir, drummer Arnar Rosenkranz Hilmarsson, Kristjan Pall Kristjansson as a bassist, and lead guitarist Brynjar Leifsson. The band was formed in 2010. The group started its journey from 2010’s Musiktilraunir, which was an annual music competition held in Iceland. The quartet included Brynjar, Nanna, Raggi, and Arnar, where Raggi presented the group with the band name “Of Monsters and Men.” The name was liked by everyone else, and they kept it. After this competition, the quartet added two more people to the band who were Kristjan and Arni. The group started touring at different venues in Iceland. They also worked on some of the new songs that they released later. In 2010, the group was invited to perform at the Iceland Airwaves festival from where they got the opportunity to record their live performance “Little Talks” by the radio station, based in Seattle, named KEXP. In 2011, the Of Monsters and Men released their debut album after signing up with Record Records. Also, in August 2011, Radio 104.5 of Philadelphia propelled the popularity of the band nationwide by playing their work “Little Talks.” After gaining enough success in the United States and Iceland, the band signed Universal for a worldwide release of their first album. Some of the studio albums the Of Monsters and Men has released so far include My Head is an Animal On 20 September 2011 in Iceland, 3 April 2012 in North America, 27 April 2012 in Europe, Beneath the Skin on 8 June 2015 (Iceland) and 9 June 2015 (Worldwide), and Fever Dream on 26 July, 2019.
