About REO Speedwagon

REO Speedwagon is an American rock band. The current lineup comprises Neal Doughty[a], Kevin Cronin, Bruce Hall, Dave Amato, and Bryan Hitt. In 1971, Epic Records signed the band to a recording contract after an East Coast record producer named Paul Leka witnessed the band play to a wildly appreciative outdoor crowd in Peoria during a rainstorm. They sent them to Leka's recording studio in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to record original material for their debut album. The Illinois Rock and Roll Museum on Route 66 in Joliet, Illinois, inducted REO Speedwagon into its Hall of Fame in 2021. In the summer of 2022, the band hit the road as the opening act for Styx's Live and Unzoomed Tour. On October 24, 2022, Gregg Philbin passed away. Neal Doughty, the band's only surviving founding member, announced his retirement from touring on January 4, 2023. Bruce Hall, the bassist for REO, has said that he will always consider himself a brother of the band and would be open to having Mike Doughty sit in on occasion. Derek Hilland (ex-Iron Butterfly) was introduced as the band's touring replacement for Doughty.
