Sammy Hagar Information
Samuel Roy Hagar (October 13, 1947) is a singer, songwriter, musician, and entrepreneur. He was born in Salinas, California. He wanted to get out of Fontana after completing his graduation from high school. He moved to Riverside and started playing in local bands. He first joined the Johnny Fortune Band as a rhythm guitarist and lead vocalist. He played in a San Francisco cover band when Hagar was first discovered and recruited to join a new band called Montrose. Hagar appeared on the band’s debut as well as sophomore albums.
Hagar had achieved moderate success by the late 1970s as a solo artist. He was signed with Capitol Records at the time. He opened for Boston during their 1978-1979 tour named “Don’t Look Back.” Eddie Van Halen, a musician, and songwriter approached Hagar in 1978 after playing at a festival together. Hagar signed with Geffen Records and also made a few personnel changes.
Hagar’s debut album, Nine on a Ten Scale, was released in May 1976. Other notable studio albums released by him include Sammy Hagar (1977), Musical Chairs (1977), Street Machine (1979), Danger Zone (1980), Standing Hampton (1981), Three Lock Box (1982), Ten 13 (2000), Not 4 Sale (2002), Livin’ It Up (2006), Lite Roast (2014), Space Between (2019), and Lockdown 2020 (2021).
