About ACC Football Championship

The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) holds the ACC Championship Game every year in early December to celebrate its football winner. Each year after the regular season ends, the winners of the Coastal and Atlantic divisions meet in a championship game. This tradition began in 2005 and will continue until 2022. Clemson University's Tigers are the current Atlantic Division champions. In twelve of the fifteen years from 2009 to 2019, Florida State represented the Atlantic Division, while Clemson did the same for five years from 2015 to 2019. Depending on the year, one of Georgia Tech or Virginia Tech would represent the Coastal Division in the first eight games played between 2005 and 2012. However, with Virginia's 2019 victory, all seven Coastal schools took turns representing the division from 2013 through 2019. With the elimination of divisions beginning with the 2023 season, the game will now feature the top two ACC conference winning percentages competing against one other. Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, hosts the annual ACC Championship Game. The game was formerly played in Jacksonville and Tampa, Florida, for the first five years. It will stay there in Charlotte until 2030 or later. Dr Pepper was the official corporate sponsor of the game from 2005 till the 2018 game.
