The Arizona Cardinals is an American football franchise that is based in Phoenix, Arizona. The franchise competes as a member of the National Football Conference (NFC), West Division in the National Football League (NFL). The Cardinals were founded in 1898 as Morgan Athletic Club. It is also known as one of the oldest professional football team that is continuously operating since its foundation. The team plays its home games at State Farm Stadium that was opened in 2006. The Cardinals joined NFL as a charter member on September 17, 1920. The Arizona Cardinals are owned by Bidwill Family.
The color theme for the Arizona Cardinals uniform is white, black, and cardinal red. They have won two NFL championships while they were based in Chicago. A time came when the Arizona Cardinals became the first NFL’s franchise to lose 700 games. The team won its first championship in 1925, whereas the second one in 1947. In 1948, the Cardinals again participated in the championship to defend its title but could not manage to save the title and lost the rematch; 7-0.
The Cardinals have won seven playoff games while reaching the playoff for ten times throughout its existence. The team has won five division titles so far in the years 1974, 1975, 2008, 2009, and 2015. They have also maintained their temperament of not losing a single playoff match at their home ground. Big Red is the official mascot for the Arizona Cardinals. The team has inducted a few players in their Hall of Fame, such as Earnie Nevers (1963), Ollie Matson (1972), Larry Wilson (1978), and several other players.
