The Baltimore Orioles is an American National professional baseball team from Baltimore, Maryland. The team competes in Major League Baseball as a club member of the East division, American League (AL). The Baltimore Orioles is said to be one of the 1901’s eight charter teams of the American League. The first year of the franchise was spent as a major league club in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, entitled Milwaukee Brewers. St. Louis Browns (1902–1953) was also one of the formal names of the team. The Orioles team is also nicknamed "The O's," "Why Not? Orioles”, "The Buckle Up Birds," and a few more.
The Baltimore Orioles play its home games at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Their formal ballparks include Lloyd Street Grounds as Milwaukee (1901), Sportsman's Park as St. Louis (1902–1953), and Memorial Stadium (1954–1991). Black, orange, grey, and white are the colors used in the uniforms of the franchise. The official mascot of the team is “The Oriole Bird.”
The team name was adopted in honor of Maryland’s official state bird named Baltimore Oriole. From 1966 to 1983, the Orioles faced mega-success, gaining 6 World Series appearances and winning 3 of them (1966, 1970, 1983). The team also won 7 AL Pennants, 9 East Division titles, and 3 Wild card berths. This period also presented the team with many future Hall of Famers (Brooks Robinson, Frank Robinson, Jim Palmer, and a few more).
The Baltimore Orioles are also popular for their influential ballpark, Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The ballpark was open in downtown Baltimore (1992). The team was among the last eight to win the World Series in 1966. The Orioles won the very first American League Championship (1969).
