The Myrtle Beach Pelicans is an American Minor League Baseball team based in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. They are the Chicago Cubs' Low-A affiliate. Myrtle Beach Pelicans LP is the team's owner and operator. The Pelicans play in the Low-A East Conference. The team's home games are held at TicketReturn.com Field, which debuted in 1999 and has a capacity of 6,599. From 1999 through 2020, the Pelicans were members of the Class A-Advanced Carolina League, where they most recently won the league championship in 2016.
According to Major League Baseball, the Pelicans accepted a Professional Development League license to remain as the Cubs' Low-A affiliate in the Low-A East on February 12, 2020. They were associated with the Atlanta Braves from their first season through 2010, then spent four seasons as a Texas Rangers affiliate from 2011 to 2014. Since 2015, the team has been affiliated with the Chicago Cubs.
The Pelicans made it to the 1999 Carolina League Mills Cup Championship series in their inaugural season. The Pelicans' home game against the Winston-Salem Dash was televised live on CBS Sports Network on July 3, 2014, marking the first time the Pelicans had appeared on national television. Slider, Rally Shark, and Splash are the team's current mascots. Pelicans Blue, Pelicans Navy, White, and Pelicans Gold are the colors of their uniform. The Pelicans' current General Manager is Ryan Moore.
