New York Mets Information
The New York Mets are one of the American professional baseball teams based in New York City, the borough of Queens. The team competes in MLB (Major Baseball League) as a member of the National League’s (NL) East Division. The Mets played their home games at the Polo Grounds (1962-1963) and Shea Stadium (1964-2008). Currently, the team plays its home games at Citi Field since 2009. The Mets were founded in the year 1962. They posted a record of 40-120 in their inaugural season.
The Mets are often called by their different nicknames such as The Metsies, The Metropolitans, The Miracle Mets, The Amazin’s, The Amazin Mets, and The Bad Guys. The colors that are used officially for the Mets’ uniforms are Orange, White, and Blue. Their rivals in the National League East are Atlanta Braves, while from 2006-2008, their rivalry with Philadelphia Phillies was said to be the “hottest” National League’s rivalries.
Mr. Met is the official mascot for the New York Mets currently. He is believed to be the only mascot of the MLB to exist in human appearance. The Mets have inducted several players in the Hall of Famers, including Tom Glavine, Roberto, Rickey, Henderson, Eddie, Murray, Casey, Warren, Pedro Martinez, Alomar, Richie, Ashburn, and Nolan Ryan, with few others.
The Mets have won overall 5 NL Pennants, 2 World Series titles, 3 Wild card berths, and 6 East Division titles. They made the playoffs for the first time in nine years’ duration in 2015. The team has so far played in four of the World Series.
