NHL Stadium Series Information
The Stadium Series is one series of outdoor games played during the regular season in the NHL. This is a separate and unique event unlike the NHL's other two outdoor series, the NHL Winter Classic on New Year's Day and the NHL Heritage Classic in Canada. All previous Stadium Series contests in the United States have occurred at a football or baseball stadium toward the end of January, the beginning of February, or the middle of March.
Seven clubs competed in the inaugural Stadium Series in 2014 across four games played at three locations. In 2015 there was just one Stadium Series game, while in 2016, there were two. There has been only one annual game since 2017.
From 2014 through 2020, NBC Sports aired the Stadium Series in the United States, as they were the holders of the national NHL rights in the country. Most of the Stadium Series games were broadcast on NBC on Saturday nights; the exceptions were the 2014 Ducks-Kings game at Dodger Stadium (broadcast on NBCSN), the 2014 Islanders-Rangers game at Yankee Stadium (broadcast on NBCSN on a Wednesday night), and the 2015 Kings-Sharks game at Levi's Stadium (broadcast on NBCSN).
