Orlando Magic Information

The Orlando Magic, based in Orlando, Florida, is an American professional basketball team. It is a member of the NBA’s Eastern Conference Southeast Division. The team plays its home games at Amway Center. After the Miami Heat, Orlando is considered as the second successful team brought into the league in terms of winning percentage in 1988 and 1989. Some notable NBA stars such as Penny Hardaway, Hedo Türkoglu, Shaquille O'Neal, Dominique Wilkins, Patrick Ewing, Rashard Lewis, Grant Hill, Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, Dwight Howard, and Steve Francis, have played for the franchise throughout its young history.

In the year 1989, the franchise was first established. Orlando Magic played their first season game at the Orlando Arena on November 4, 1989, against the visiting New Jersey Nets, who won 111–106 in a hard-fought game. In their second game, they defeated the New York Knicks with 118–110. The franchise has given 15 playoff appearances and went to the NBA Finals twice, in 1995 and 2009. The worst record posted by the magic was 18-64 in the inaugural season, and their best record was 60-22 in the 1995–96 season.

The team has an official uniform color theme of blue, silver, and black. Since 1989, stuff the Magic Dragon has been the team’s mascot, designed by Bonnie Erickson and Wade Harrison of Acme Mascots, Inc.

The Orlando Magic has the most significant number of players inducted into the basketball Hall Of Fame, including Nick Anderson, Shaquille O'Neal, Penny Hardaway, Tracy McGrady, Pat Williams, Richard DeVos, Jim Hewitt, and David Steele.
The Orlando Magic has won Eastern Conference titles twice in 1995 and 2009. Some of the team’s well-known players have received the honor of the NBA All-Rookie First Team, including Dennis Scott (1991), Drew Gooden (2003), Elfrid Payton (2015), Shaquille O’Neal (1993), Anfernee Hardaway (1994), and Victor Oladipo (2014). One of its players, Dwight Howard, has won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award three times in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
