About Fan Expo Denver

Previously known as Denver Pop Culture Con and Denver Comic Con, Fan Expo Denver is an annual science fiction and fantasy fan event in Denver, Colorado, United States. It's a party for comics, literature, film, television, and video game fans. The event was started in 2012 by the nonprofit group Pop Culture Classroom. Informa/Fan Expo purchased the convention in 2021, and the name was then changed to Fan Expo Denver. Approximately 27,700 people attended the first annual convention in 2012, which took place on June 15–17. Originating as Denver Comic Con, the event has since evolved into Pop Culture Classroom (formerly Comic Book Classroom), an educational nonprofit that relies on convention proceeds to operate throughout the year. The convention was one of the largest in the United States in 2015, with over 100,000 attendees. Due to San Diego Comic-successful Con's attempt to trademark the word "comic con," the convention's name was changed in 2019 to Denver Pop Culture Con. After purchasing it from Pop Culture Classroom in March 2021, the new owners rebranded the convention as Fan Expo Denver. Pop Culture Classroom will continue to be involved with the event in two key ways: as the primary beneficiary of the event's proceeds and as a provider of educational programming for attendees.
