Alanis Nadine Morissette (June 1, 1974) is a Canadian-born American record producer, songwriter, actress, and singer. She is from Ottawa, Ontario, and lives in Malibu, California, U.S. She mostly plays music in hard rock, pop-rock, alternative rock, and dance-pop. She started playing the piano when she was only six and began with her dance lessons at the age of seven. Morissette also appeared on You Can't Do That for five episodes, which was a children's television show.
Alanis Nadine Morissette began her music career with the recording of her first demo called "Fate Stay with Me." In 1991, her debut album was released via MCA Records Canada entitled Alanis. This album went platinum, while its first single "Too Hot" reached the Top 20 on the chart of the RPM singles. "Walk Away" and "Feel Your Love" of the same album also reached the Top 40.
Some of the other hit discographies by Morissette are Now Is the Time (1992), Jagged Little Pill (1995), Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie (1998), Under Rug Swept (2002), So-Called Chaos (2004), Flavors of Entanglement (2008), Havoc and Bright Lights (2012), and Such Pretty Forks in the Road (2020). Some of the stage shows where Morissette appeared are The Vagina Monologues, The Exonerated, An Oak Tree, and Jagged Little Pill.
Alanis Nadine Morissette also performed several headlining tours including Jagged Little Tour (1995), Can't Not Tour (1996), Dhanyavad Tour (1998), Under Rug Swept Tour (2001), Toward Our Union Mended Tour (2002), So-Called Chaos Tour (2004), Jagged Little Pill Acoustic Tour (2005), Flavors of Entanglement Tour (2008–09), Intimate and Acoustic (2014), and World Tour (2018). She was also an opening act for Vanilla Ice, the To the Extreme Tour (1991), and the 1999 Summer Tour (1999). Alanis Nadine Morissette was also featured in many films and television shows.
