The current band members are Anthony LoGerfo (drums, percussion), Lukas Nelson (lead vocals, guitar), Corey McCormick (bass guitar, vocals), Tato Melgar (percussion), and Logan Metz (keyboards, lap steel, guitar, harmonica, vocals). Lukas is the son of the great Willie Nelson. The band was formed in the year 2008 when Lukas Nelson dropped out of college to pursue his music career. The very first show played by the POTR was arranged in the fall of 2008, where the group sold its very first EP named Live Beginnings. This EP was meant to pay for the touring of the POTR. The band, along with Lukas Nelson, initiated a nine-show tour opening for Willie Nelson in January 2009. This included a five-night stop at The Fillmore in San Francisco. The first studio EP by Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real was released in April 2009 by the name Brando’s Paradise Sessions. The very first album by the band was Promise of the Real, which was released in December 2010. Some of the other records by the group are Wasted (April 3, 2012), Something Real (March 11, 2016), Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real (August 25, 2017), Turn Off the News (Build a Garden) (June 14, 2019), and a few more. Live Beginnings, Live Endings, and Earth (with Neil Young) are the three live recordings by the POTR. Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real have played nearly 200 shows all across the US during the year 2011.
