Patti LaBelle (originally Patricia Louise Hote) is an American actress, entrepreneur, and singer. Born on May 24, 1994, Patti is based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S. She chose her genres to be R&B, soul, disco, dance, and gospel. Patti began her career in the 1960s when she joined a band named Pattie LaBella and the Bluebelles. She was the lead singer and the frontwoman of the group. LaBelle Is widely identified as ‘Godmother of Soul.’
After the band disbanded in the 1970s, Patti started her solo career with her debut self-titled album in 1977. Her music career got successful enough in a short period. LaBelle released a total of 19 albums till 2017. Some of the notable ones are ‘Tasty’ (1978), ‘Released’ (1980), ‘Patti’ (1985), ‘ Be Yourself’ (1989), ‘Burnin’ (1991), and ‘Classical Moments’ (2005).
Apart from her singing career, Patti LaBelle is a top-class actress, as well. She worked in several films from 1979 until 2012. Her all-time favorite movies were, ‘Richard Pryor: Live in Concert’ (1979), ‘Sing’ (1989), ‘Preaching to the Choir’ (2005), ‘Semi-pro’ (2008), and ‘Mama I Want to Sing!’ (2012). The fine actress also worked in Television series and shows. She did a total of 27 shows and series in her television career. Patti recently did a radio show ‘The Breakfast Club’ in 2019.
Patti LaBelle, for her successful career in music, got nominated in different categories of the Emmy Awards and Grammy Awards. She won Grammy Hall of Fame, Best Traditional R&B Performance, and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance of the Grammy. LaBelle won awards for her acting career as well, which includes; Entertainer of the Year, Outstanding Female Artist, Outstanding Gospel Artist, and Outstanding Performance of the Image Awards. The artist also won the American Music Award, GLAAD, and UNCF Evening of Stars.
