Primus Information
Primus is an American funk metal band that was formed in El Sobrante, California. The group was created in 1984 by singer and bassist Les Claypool and guitarist Todd Huth. The current band members included are guitarist Larry "Ler" LaLonde, bassist/vocalist Les Claypool, and drummer Tim "Herb" Alexander. Some of the former members of the band are Vince "Perm" Parker, Tim "Curveball" Wright, and Bryan "Brain" Mantia.
The music of Primus is described as funk metal, progressive rock, experimental rock, and alternative metal. The major label debut by the band was Sailing the Seas of Cheese. This debut album was supported by a few singles such as "Jerry Was a Race Car Driver," "Those Damned Blue-Collar Tweekers," and "Tommy the Cat."
Some of the later notable releases by Primus include Pork Soda 1993, Tales from the Punchbowl (1995), Brown Album (1997), Antipop (1999), Green Naugahyde (2011), Primus & the Chocolate Factory with the Fungi Ensemble (2014), and The Desaturating Seven (2017). A few of the hit singles by Primus are "Wynona's Big Brown Beaver," "Mrs. Blaileen," "Southbound Pachyderm," and "My Name Is Mud."
Primus has gone on countless tours throughout its career including; Bring the Noise Tour (1991), Counterparts Tour (1994), Southbound Pachyderm Tour (1996), Family Values Tour (1999), Tour de Fromage (2003–2004), The Oddity Faire Tour (2010), Green Naugahyde Tour (2011), Summer Camp Music Festival (2012), Primus and the Chocolate Factory (2015), An Evening with Primus and Clutch (2017), Primus and Mastodon Summer Tour (2018), Slayer's The Final Campaign Tour (2019), and many others. Primus received two Grammy nominations and earned a few awards throughout its career.
