The Boston Red Sox are one of the American professional baseball team. The franchise is based in Boston, Massachusetts, and competes in the Major League Baseball (MLB) as American League’s East division member. The team was formerly known as Boston Americans (1901–1907), whereas its nicknames are The Olde Towne Team, The Sox, The BoSox. The Boston Red Sox plays its home games at Fenway Park, while Huntington Avenue Grounds was the previous ballpark of the team.
The Boston Red Sox chose navy blue, red, and white colors to integrate into its uniforms. The team's official mascot is Wally the Green Monster, whereas a partner mascot named Tessie the Green Monster is popular as the little sister of Wally. The team is consistently one of the top teams of MLB in average road attendance.
The Boston Red Sox franchise is the winner of 9 World Series titles, out of which 4 were won till 1918. After this year, the team faced a severe championship drought until 2004 (an 86-year wait), stated to be "Curse of the Bambino." Although, at the same time, the franchise created some of the memorable moments, including the "Impossible Dream" of 1967, Enos Slaughter's "mad dash" in 1946, Carlton Fisk's home run in 1975, and a few more.
The Red Sox also won 14 AL Pennants, 10 East Division titles, and 7 Wild card berths. The team is famous for creating several notable seasons and team records, including; a franchise record by David Ortiz for home runs in a season with 54 (2006), a club record for a right-handed hitter by Nomar Garciaparra hitting .372 (2000), and several more like these.
