Brooklyn Nets Information

The Brooklyn Nets is an American National professional basketball team based in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The team competes in the NBA (National Basketball Association) as a member of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. The Nets play their home games at Brooklyn Nets. They have also played home games formerly at Teaneck Armory, Long Island Arena, Island Garden, Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Rutgers Athletic Center, Izod Center, and the Prudential Center.

The franchise was founded in 1967 and began playing in New Jersey as the New Jersey Americans in their first season. When they moved to Long Island, the team renamed itself as the New York Nets in 1968. In 1977, the Nets again moved to New Jersey and started playing as New Jersey Nets. They finally moved to Brooklyn in 2012 and continued playing as the Brooklyn Nets to date.

The Nets opted for white and black as their official uniform colors. BrooklyKnight is one of the official mascots of the Brooklyn Nets. Other former mascots include the Silver Fox and Duncan the Dragon. The Nets are one of two teams located in New York City associated with the National Basketball Association. The Nets have won ABA Championship two times overall in 1974 and 1976.

The team has won 2 ABA Championships, 3 ABA Conference titles, 2 NBA Conference titles, 1 ABA Division title, and 4 NBA Division titles. The team players who have won the NBA individual awards include Derrick Colman (NBA Rookie of the Year), Wayne Ellington (J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award), Jason Kid (NBA All-Defensive First Team), and several others.
