Houston Rockets Information

The Houston Rockets are an American professional basketball team founded in 1967. The team is based in Houston, Texas, and competes in the National Basketball Association NBA as a member team of the Western Conference Southwest Division. The Rockets play their home games at the Toyota Center. The team was formerly known as San Diego Rockets (1967-1971) and played its home games at the San Diego Sports Arena. The Rockets also played home games at the Astrodome, AstroHall, Hofheinz Pavilion, and a few more. The franchise was only able to win 15 games in their debut season in 1967. The Rockets were awarded the first overall pick in the 1968 NBA draft.

The Houston Rockets are recognized for red, black, gray, white, and anthracite colors present in their official uniform. The official mascot of the team is Clutch, which is a Rocket bear. Turbo was the former mascot of the group, which was a costumed man performing various maneuvers. The Rockets are the winner of 2 NBA championships, 4 Conference titles, and 7 Division titles. The team is famous for developing many rivalries within the Western Conference.

The notable individual honors earned by the franchise are the NBA Most Valuable Player Award, NBA Finals MVP, NBA All-Defensive First Team, NBA Scoring Champions, All-NBA Second Team, and several more. The Rockets have served the Basketball Hall of Famers with several inductees, including Rick Barry, Elvin Hayes, Calvin Murphy, Moses Malone, Ralph Sampson, and a few more. Hakeem Olajuwon was inducted into the FIBA Hall of Famers.
