Indiana Pacers Information
The Indiana Pacers are an American professional basketball team founded in the year 1967. The team is based in Indianapolis, Indiana, and competes in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member club of the Eastern Conference Central Division. The franchise was established as a member of the American Basketball Association (ABA) but became an NBA member in 1976. Bankers Life Fieldhouse serves as the home arena to the Indiana Pacers. Some of the former home arenas where the team played their home games include Indiana State Fairgrounds Coliseum and Market Square Arena. The franchise is named after the history of Indiana with the Indianapolis 500's pace cars and the harness racing industry.
The Indiana Pacers are famous for their gold, cool gray, and navy blue uniforms. The official mascot of the team is Boomer, the Pacers Panther. The team has won 3 championships; 0 in the NBA and all three in ABA. The franchise was also the winner of 1 Conference title and 9 Division titles (3 ABA in 1969, 1970, 1971, and 6 NBA in 1995, 1999, 2000, 2004, 2013, and 2014).
The Pacers inducted six players to the Hall of Fame, Reggie Miller, Chris Mullin, Alex English, George McGinnis, Mel Daniels, and Roger Brown. The team also inducted many players to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famers along with three coaches. Some of the individual awards won by the Pacers include NBA Defensive Player of the Year- Ron Artest, NBA Rookie of the Year- Chuck Person, NBA Sixth Man of the Year- Detlef Schrempf, NBA Most Improved Player of the Year-5 players, NBA Coach of the Year-2 players, NBA Executive of the Year- Larry Bird, and the list goes on.
