The Miami Dolphins are a professional American football team that is based in the Miami metropolitan area. The team was founded 54 years ago on August 16, 1965, and played its first season in the year 1966. The Dolphins compete as an East Division member of AFC in the NFL and play their home games at Hard Rock Stadium. The franchise is headquartered in the Baptist Health Training Facility at Nova Southeastern University (Davie, Florida). The team was founded by Danny Thomas (actor and comedian) along with Joe Robbie (attorney-politician).
The Dolphins were given the following nicknames; The No-Name Defense, The Killer Bees Defense, Phins, and Fins. The team is under the ownership of Stephen M. Ross, who is also the chairman of the team. Tom Garfinkel is the CEO, and Chris Grier is the general manager. The Dolphins won two League Championships, Super Bowl Championships in 1972 and 1973. The team also won five Conference Championships (AFC: 1971,1972,1973,1982, 1984) and thirteen Division Championships (AFC East). It appeared twenty-three times in playoffs.
The official uniform theme of the Dolphins is aqua, orange, and white. The official fight song of the team is Miami Dolphins #1, while the official mascot is T. D. Two of the previous mascots of the franchise are Dolfan Denny and Flipper. The team inducted many players into the Pro Football Hall of Famers such as; Paul Warfield, Larry Csonka, Jim Langer, Bob Griese, Dan Marino, Jason Taylor, and a few more.
Some of the notable individual awards won by the Dolphin players are NFL MVP award by Dan Marino, Super Bowl MVP award by Jake Scott, and Larry Csonka, Pro Bowl MVP award by Garo Yepremian, Ricky Williams, and Brandon Marshall, along with many others.
