Minnesota Twins Information
The Minnesota Twins is an American national professional baseball team which is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The team was founded in 1901 and competed in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the Central Division of the American League. It is named after an area comprising Minneapolis and St. Paul named Twin Cities. The team was formerly known as Washington Senators (1901–1960). Twinkies are the nickname given to the team. The Twins play their home games at Target Field. Previously, Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome (1982–2009), Metropolitan Stadium (1961–1981), National Park (1904–1910), and American League Park (1901–1903) were also used as the home arenas by the team.
The franchise is a winner to the World Series as a Senator in 1924, 1987, and 1991. The team has won 6 AL Pennants, 11 West/Central Division titles, 1 Wild card berths in 2017, and 3 World Series titles. The team's official uniform colors are scarlet red, Minnesota Kasota gold, white, and navy blue. The official mascot of the Twins is T.C. Bear. The team has fielded 19 American League batting champions throughout the 2019 season. It has also hosted 5 five All-Star Games.
The team players inducted into the Baseball Hall of Famers are Stan Covelesk, Rick Ferrell, Clark Griffith, Heinie Manush, Al Simmons, and several more. Molitor, Morris, and Winfield received the title of "hometown heroes." Six of the team players were listed on display at Washington Nationals Park as Hall of Stars.
The Minnesota Twins won several individual awards, among which a few are; Rookie of the Year (AL), Cy Young (AL), Gold Glove Award (AL), Wilson Defensive Player of the Year Award, Silver Slugger (AL), DHL Hometown Heroes (2006), and the list goes on.
