The New Orleans Pelicans are an American professional basketball team that is based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The team is a member of the league's Western Conference Southwest Division and competes in the National Basketball Association. The Pelicans play their home games at the Smoothie King Center. Ford Center was another temporary faculty when Hurricane damaged the home venue of the team. The New Orleans Pelicans was founded in 2002 as New Orleans Hornets. The name later changed to New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets and finally to the current one.
The New Orleans Pelicans have gold, red, and navy blue as their official uniform colors. The team enjoys Pierre the Pelican's presence (October 30, 2013) as their official mascot that replaced Hugo the Hornet (2002-2013). The Pelicans have won none of the Championships or Conference titles but only one Division title in 2008.
