Tampa Bay Rays Information
The Tampa Bay Rays are one of the American professional baseball teams established in 1998. Formerly known as Tampa Bay Devil Rays, the team is based in St. Petersburgh, Florida. They are a member of the American League’s East Division and compete in Major League Baseball (MLB). The club plays its home games at Tropicana Field since 1998. The Rays won their first AL East championship and pennant in 2008. The team was formerly known as Tampa Bay Devil Rays (1998–2007).
The uniform jersey of the Rays is a traditional white with “rays” written in dark blue along with a yellow sunburst on the letter “R.” Their road jersey is gray with the same logo and name. Tampa Bay Rays feature Raymond as their official team mascot, a furry blue creature wearing oversized sneakers and a cap. He is described as “Seadog” officially.
Wade Boggs, a player of the team, was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Famers. Other players such as Hal McRae, Lou Piniella, Johnny Damon, Tino Martinez, and Fred McGriff also had the privilege to be induced in the Florida Sports Hall of Fame. The Rays have won single AL Pennant, 2 East Division Titles, 3 Wild Card berths, and no World Series titles.
