Toronto Raptors Information
The Toronto Raptors are a Canadian professional basketball team based in Toronto. The team was founded in 1995 as part of the NBA's expansion into Canada, along with the Vancouver Grizzlies. The Raptors compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member club of the league's Eastern Conference Atlantic Division. They play their home games at the Scotiabank Arena, which they share with the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League (NHL).
The team's first logo originally featured an aggressive-looking, red Velociraptor wearing white sneakers with exposed toe-claws dribbling a basketball. The logo proved to be very popular among their fans. The team's original uniform colors were purple, bright red, black, and silver. Now they choose their colors to be red, black, silver, gold, and white of the uniform jerseys. The Raptor is the official mascot of the team, which is a red velociraptor donning basketball shoes along with a jersey number 95
Toronto Raptors have made the playoffs 11 times. The team has won the Atlantic Division six times, and the franchise record number of wins in the regular season is 59. They advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals twice, and only once did the Raptors reach and win the NBA Finals (2019). Several players were induced to the Basketball Hall of Fame, including Lenny Wilkens, Wayne Embry, Tracy McGrady, and Hakeem Olajuwon.
