Ricky Gervais (June 25, 1961) is an English director, actor, stand-up comedian, singer, and screenwriter. He initially tried to pursue his career as a pop star, where he worked as a singer of the new wave in the 1980s during the act of Seona Dancing. New wave pop duo Seona Dancing was formed by Ricky Gervais and his friend Bill Macrae. In the years between 1998-2000, Ricky appeared on “The 11 O’Clock Show,” which aired on Channel 4.

In 1990, he began his stand-up career and performed five multinational stand-up comedy tours. He also wrote his book series named “Flanimals.” Ricky Gervais has also appeared in Hollywood movies such as The Night at The Museum trilogy, Muppets Most Wanted, For Your Consideration, and Ghost Town.

He has hosted the Golden Global Awards in 2010,2011,2012, and 2016. He starred in “The Invention of Lying” that he wrote and directed as well. In 2004, Channel 4 gave him the whole spoof talk show, which was named as the “Meet Ricky Gervais.” His appearance on the game show “Child Support” was memorable. Gervais was also sighted at the Live eight event that was held in London's Hyde Park. He performed his famous dance at the event.

Gervais is a winner to seven BAFTA Awards, two Emmy Awards, five British Comedy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, and was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award. He was also voted as the 11th-greatest stand-up comic for the 100 Greatest Stand-Ups (Channel 40).
