Trevor Noah is a South African producer, comedian, actor, writer, political commentator, and television host. He was born on February 20, 1984, in Johannesburg. He currently hosts The Daily Show, which is an American satirical news program on Comedy Central. Noah is a polyglot who can speak English, German, Zulu, Sotho, Xhosa, and a few more languages.
Trevor Noah started his career in the year 2002 as a presenter, comedian, and actor in his native South Africa. Noah subsequently held many television hosting roles with South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC). He was the runner-up in South Africa’s iteration (4th season) of Strictly Come Dancing in 2008. Trevor Noah also acted as the host as well as the creator of the late-night talk show “Tonight With Trevor Noah” (2010-2011) that was aired on DStv and M-Net.
At the beginning of Noah’s career in 2002, he got a minor role in an episode of the South African soap opera entitled “Isidingo” at the age of eighteen. After that, he started hosting his radio show “Noah’s Ark” on Gauteng’s leading youth radio station, YFM. Noah then dropped his radio show along with acting to focus on comedy. He was also the host to Run the Adventure TV program.
Trevor Noah has performed with several famous comedians such as Barry Hilton, Riaad Moosa, David Kau, Darren Simpson, Kagiso Lediga, Nik Rabinowitz, and Marc Lottering. Noah has also performed with a list of international comedians which includes Paul Zerdin, Paul Rodriguez, Dan Ilic, and Carl Barron.
Noah has performed all over South Africa in different notable shows such as The Blacks Only Comedy Show, The Cape Town International Comedy Festival, The HeavyWeight Comedy Jam, The Vodacom Campus Comedy Tour, and many more. He also appeared in the film. You Laugh, But It's True.
