Calgary Flames Information

The Calgary Flames are one of the professional ice hockey teams that are based in Calgary, Alberta. The Flames are a member of the Pacific Division owned by the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The franchise is the third major ice hockey team to represent the Calgary city. The Calgary Flames are one of the two franchises in NHL. The uniform color of the team includes red, yellow, white, and black. The team was the first one to play Tigers and compete for the Stanley Cup.

Founded in 1972, the team was formerly known as Atlanta Flames (1972–1980) that was renamed to the current name Calgary Flames. The first three seasons played by the group were held at Stampede Corral, but the team moved to Scotiabank Saddledome (their current home arena). The mascot for the Calgary Flames is Harvey the Hound, which was created in 1983. It was also the very first mascot in the NHL.

The Hockey Hall of Fame members in the team include Lanny McDonald, Joe Mullen, Al MacInnis, Grant Fuhr, Brett Hull, Doug Gilmour, Joe Nieuwendyk, Phil Housley, Bearcat Murray, Peter Maher (Foster Hewitt Memorial Award winner), Doc Seaman, Bill Hay, Harley Hotchkiss, and a few more.

The Calgary Flames earned 1 and only Stanley Cup (1988–89), 3 Conference championships (1985–86, 1988–89, 2003–04), 2 Presidents' Trophy (1987–88, 1988–89), and 7 Division championships (1987–88, 1988–89, 1989–90, 1993–94, 1994–95, 2005–06, 2018–19).
