Phoenix Suns Information

The Phoenix Suns are a Phoenix-based professional basketball team (Phoenix, Arizona). They are a member of the NBA’s Western Conference Pacific Division. From 1968-1992, the team played at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum, but currently, they play their home games at Talking Stick Resort Arena.

The franchise was founded in 1968. The Phoenix Suns posted a win-loss record of 16–66 in their inaugural season. During their first seven seasons, the team participated only one time in the playoffs. In their first forty-three seasons, they posted nineteen seasons with over fifty wins, made the playoffs 29 times, reached the NBA Finals twice in 1976 and 1993, and appeared nine times in the Western Conference Finals.
Many team players have been selected into the All-NBA First Team, including active players like Paul Westphal, Connie Hawkins, and Dennis Johnson.

Phoenix Suns’ uniform color theme is based on five colors, including purple, orange, black, gray, and yellow. The Gorilla had become a mascot legend of the team since 1980 when he first appeared at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Shaquille O'Neal, Connie Hawkins, Gail Goodrich, Charles Barkley, Gus Johnson, Dennis Johnson, Charlie Scott, Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, Grant Hill, and Paul Westphal are some of the team’s players who got inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.

The Phoenix Suns franchise was honored with 12 Emmy awards in October 2008 by the Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. They have won conference titles twice in 1976 and 1993, along with Division titles six times in 1981, 1993, 1995, 2005, 2006, and 2007. Steve Nash and Charles Barkley won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award while playing for the Phoenix Suns.
