About Nickelback

Nickelback is a Canadian rock band. The group's current lineup comprises Daniel Adair, Mike Kroeger, Ryan Peake, and Chad Kroeger. Mike and Chad Kroeger, their cousin Brandon Kroeger, and friend Ryan Peake started the band in the early '90s under the name "Village Idiot" to play cover songs. The band's name evolved to Nickelback over time. A band member, Mike Kroeger, got the idea for the moniker by constantly telling customers at Starbucks, "Here's your nickel back." In August of 2022, Nickelback began posting previews of new songs to their official social media accounts with the date "09.07.2022" prominently displayed. There was a video shoot for Nickelback's song on August 30, 2022, outside the Convocation Mall at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia. According to a newsletter sent to students on August 26, 2022, the date was confirmed. Their "Get Rollin' Tour" opened with performances from Brantley Gilbert and Josh Ross between June 2023 and August 2023. The band performed 38 concerts in Canada and the United States. Nickelback will be the subject of a documentary titled Hate to Love: Nickelback, directed by Leigh Brooks in 2023. A member of Nickelback was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2023.
