Houston Astros Information
The Houston Astros is one of the American professional baseball teams that is based in Houston, Texas. The team competes in MLB (Major League Baseball) as a member of the American League (AL) West Division. Since 2000, the Astros played their home games at Minute Maid Park. Some of the other home venues the Astros have played at are Astrodome (1965-1999) and Colt Stadium (1962-1964). The team was founded in 1962 as Houston Colts .45s. It has played from the NL (1962 -2012), first from West Division (1969-1993) and then from the Central Division (1994-2012).
Astros are also called Stros, which is their nickname. The colors used for the team’s uniform theme are orange, white, and dark blue. The Colts .45s (now Astros) began their inaugural season on April 10, 1962, against the Chicago Cubs. The Astros have played 8948 games since they are in action and have won 4494 games while five games were a tie.
The official mascot of the Houston Astros is known as the “Orbit.” Some of the other mascots who have been part of Astros are Junction Jack, Jesse, and Julie. The very first mascot for the Astros was Chester Charge. The Astros have inducted many of their players in Hall of Famers, including Jose Cruz, Larry Dierker, Joe Morgan, Joe Niekro, Nolan Ryan, Mike Scott, and several others.
The Astros won overall 1 World Series titles in 2017, 2 AL Pennants in 2017 and 2019, 1 NL Pennants in 2005, 3 AL West Division titles, 4 NL Central Division titles, 3 NL West Division Titles, and 3 Wild Card Berths. The team is the only one in the MLB to win a pennant in both leagues.
